Holistic Therapies

Acupressure Seated Chair Massage is similar to acupuncture but does not use needles.  Therapists use fingers, thumbs or knuckles to stimulate specific points or “acupoints” along the body.  Seated acupressure is ideal for staff in corporate settings, as it can be done quickly and effectively.  You can also remain fully clothed for this treatment.   1st appointment

Aromatherapy is the use of plant essential oils for therapeutic purposes.  Essential oils have been used in fragrances, flavourings and medicines for thousands of years and there are around 400 different oils extracted from plants all over the world.  Each oil has its own special therapeutic properties.  The initial consultation will enable me to choose a selection of a small number of essential oils, appropriate to your individual needs, which will then be blended into a carrier oil or cream and applied to your skin as part of a massage treatment.  The areas treated will come down to your personal preferences, but would typically be either a full body massage, or a neck, back and shoulder massage, with towels used to protect your modesty.   1st appointment

Aromatherapy, Massage and Reflexology – Adapted treatments for use in Supportive and Palliative Care  These therapies can be used as a support during and after medical treatment.  Complementary therapy promotes a sense of emotional and psychological wellbeing.  They can help to relieve anxiety, insomnia, stiffness and pain.  1st appointment

Body / Deep Tissue / Swedish / Sports Massage involves working the soft tissue of the body, to ease day-to-day stresses and muscular tension, and promote relaxation.  It helps to increase delivery of blood and oxygen to the treated areas and can also be used in support of other therapies to assist in the rehabilitation of muscular injuries.   There are many different types of massage.  Some of these – such as sports massage – concentrate on specific areas of the body, or problem areas.  With all massage treatments, pressure and techniques used will be adapted to suit the client’s individual needs and preferences.  1st appointment

Hopi Ear Candling is an ancient practice that has been used for centuries in many cultures throughout the world. They are hollow tubes made from unbleached cotton or linen and hardened with beeswax.  You lie on your side on a massage table and a protective cloth with a slit in it will be placed over the ear.  The ear candle will be lit and gently inserted into the opening of the ear.  Once treatment is completed, it will be repeated on the other ear.  During treatment you may experience gentle heat around the ear area.  You may hear popping sounds and a pleasant crackling as the ingredients are burning.  1st appointment

Indian Head Massage has been used in Asia for over 5,000 years and works specifically on the area surrounding the head, scalp, face, neck, shoulders and upper back. Indian head massage comes from Ayurveda, an ancient method involving natural therapies, which takes into account mind, body and spirit.  It can also be a short treatment suitable for the workplace.  1st appointment

Pregnancy Massage can help to alleviate many of the symptoms and minor ailments in pregnancy.  During this amazing time of physical and emotional change, massage can be of enormous benefit to both the mother and her baby.  It relaxes the mind and helps to prepare the body for the changes that occur.  It helps to promote a healthy, happy pregnancy, as well as aiding the recovery during the fourth trimester. 1st appointment

Reflexology is based on the principle that reflex points on the soles, tops, and sides of the feet correspond to different areas of the body.  In this way, the feet can be seen as a ‘map’ of the body.  By applying specialised massage techniques to specific reflex points – using the thumbs, fingers and knuckles – the aim of a reflexology treatment is to help restore balance to the body naturally, and improve the client’s general well-being.  1st appointment

Thai Foot Massage uses thumbs and a wooden Thai foot stick to stimulate reflex points and includes a therapeutic massage to the legs and feet.  It is a wonderful treatment to promote overall health, increase energy and to provide a general sense of wellbeing. 1st appointment
